Spiritual Guidance, Yogic Practise
and 1-1 Sessions
The tunnel of life itself is
beautiful if we have the perception that tells us it is so! Seeing the
light at the end of the tunnel helps this perception to evolve. We no
longer get lost in the 'forest' as we have an understanding of the
journey.
This is where Spiritual Guidance can
really make a difference.
In Western societies people grow up believing that everything they need is outside of themselves and so become reliant on external sources for their contentment, their health and their sense of purpose in life. This reliance has created a society where many people feel lost and isolated and where depression and general illness is affecting huge numbers of people. Many people block out what they are feeling by using drugs and alcohol.
As the Eastern
philosophies have shown, acknowledging and exploring the world inside
of ourselves is an essential part of life and indeed, this is the
gateway for dealing with many of the problems that arise in Western
societies.
During Spiritual Guidance a space is created where you can feel very safe to express whatever needs to be said without any fear of judgement or criticism. Being able to speak about your fears and experiences can really help you to be more relaxed and can bring a level of understanding to the situation and a deep healing which is not possible if you do not express yourself freely and openly.
Furthermore, where appropriate, suggestions can be made of practical ways to move forward with your life.
There are many elements to the Kundalini Yoga practise as briefly noted below. When working 1:1 with people there is a focus on one element or a combination of elements as needed.
Mantras (Sound Healing)
Whether we listen to mantras or sing them, their positive vibration will impact us at the very core of our being. In the same way that listening to different types of music can make us feel sad or lively, mantras have a healing effect on the body. The power of mantras is often undervalued. They are the most powerful form of yoga.
Meditation
There are many different types of meditation. In the Kundalini Yoga Tradition we mostly work with meditations that release the habitual patterns in our subconscious mind. It is these patterns that keep us imprisoned in our way of seeing the world and cause us to repeat particular behaviours which are often not helping us to be healthy and to feel good about ourselves. When practised over a period of time, these meditations change the patterns in the subconscious mind thereby changing our outlook & our behaviour patterns so that we can live in a way that is healthier and more kind to ourselves.
Pranayama (Breath control)
Working with the breath can have a very immediate and direct impact on our lives. Through repeating specific breath patterns we begin to notice profound changes in our lives, both in terms of general health and clarity about our lives.
Yogic Exercises
The body needs to move. If the body stays still for too long then we literally stagnate and eventually become unwell - just like a river where the water is no longer flowing but is stuck in a side pool. Over time that water becomes stagnant. Within the practise we can work in a very slow and gentle way or in a physical and dynamic way.
Relaxation
Most people have no idea how to relax, thinking that sitting in front of the television is a relaxing evening but this is not true relaxation. It is essential for the healthy functioning of the body that we regularly relax deeply, gradually releasing the tension that will cause illness in the long run, if we hold on to it.
Mudras
A mudra is a hand position that seals and guides the energy flow and reflexes to the brain affecting particular emotions and behaviours.
