Yogi Bhajan
"The process of self-healing is the privilege of every human being.  Self-healing is not a miracle, nor is it a question of being able to do something that most people can't.  Self-healing is a process that occurs through the relationship between the physical and the infinite power of the soul.  It is a contract, a union - that is the science of Kundalini Yoga."

Kundalini Yoga
Kundalini Yoga is a complete science which enables us to live a healthy, happy, holy life.  It is the 'yoga of the householder'.  The practise works on all levels - mind, body and soul simultaneously.  The practise includes the use of dynamic postures (kriyas), breathing techniques, mudras, meditations, relaxation and mantras (sound vibrations).

Where some styles of yoga focus on one particular aspect, Kundalini Yoga simultaneously works with all aspects of yoga i.e. Patanjali's eight limbs of yoga, which is what makes it a very powerful practise.  The yoga works very directly with the energies of the body.

Many many benefits are received through the practise of Kundalini Yoga.  For instance, regular practise can bring an inner calmness and sense of peace and your intuition is enhanced enabling you to make insightful choices in your life.  It brings the physical body into a healthy state and brings clarity to the mind.

Kundalini Yoga is open to all people.  Some people come to the practise in order to become fitter, some to lose weight, some to become more toned.  Some people will want to use the practise to help recover from illness (both physical and psychological) and some people want to learn how to relax and take life less seriously.  Others come to the practise because they are exploring spiritual practises and are looking for their path.

However, what brings you to having an experience of Kundalini Yoga is not so important, what matters is that you don't just sit at home and read about it but that you go to a class or workshop and have an experience.  It is only through the experience of Kundalini Yoga that you can begin to have some understanding of what it is really about and experience the profound impact that it can have on your life.

"I felt safe and held by Ishwara at her Kundalini Yoga Workshop. This allowed me to work though some profound blocked emotions and come out the other end smiling." Jaynie Ralph from The Holistic Network

In the west, yoga is often misunderstood.  Some people think it is all about the physical body, that the more flexible you are, the more 'successful' you are at yoga.  However, the physical body is only one small aspect of yoga.

Other people see yoga, particularly the spiritual aspects, as separate from the 'real world' and yet all aspects of yoga (even the more esoteric aspects) are very relevant in today's society.  It depends a lot on the style of yoga and the approach of the teacher whether you are limited to working with the physical body, scared off by the esoteric elements, or are gradually introduced to how yoga can significantly affect your life.

The wonderful thing about Kundalini Yoga is that it has something for everyone!

Try something new today, give yourself a new experience!  If you've never been to a Kundalini Yoga class and you're reading this, then now is the time to try out a class.  See class section on this website for regular classes and workshops.
Many people who have never done any Kundalini Yoga before can feel uncomfortable when they first come alone to a class, but very soon they relax into the loving energy, becoming absorbed and reaching an inner peace as they become more and more present in the moment.
