New Year Celebration
29th December to 1st January 2009
![]() |
This is a once a year opportunity to get away from it all, get out into the countryside and do something different - for body, mind and soul. Join Hari Har Ji, Ishwara Kaur, Har Nal, Kaur and Janet and friends for a truly magical New Year in the elegant surroundings of Oxon Hoath - a 14th Century stately home in Kent, just 32 miles from central London. There will be an intensive program including Kundalini Yoga and Shakti Dance, with time to relax and reflect on the year gone by and the year to come. The retreat is suitable for everybody - no previous experience is necessary. |
There will be gourmet vegetarian cuisine, amazing 'rawfood' creations, log fires and like-minded company.
Please take a look at the website for Oxon Hoath which has some beautiful pictures of the outside of the house as well as pictures of the accommodation and workshop spaces - www.oxonhoath.co.uk
The Program
Arrival for the retreat is from 4pm on 29th December and departure is immediately after lunch on 1st January. A selection of workshops will be offered, beginning each day with the Kundalini Yoga Aquarian Sadhana with live music and continuing through with a variety of workshops/sessions throughout the mornings, afternoons and evenings.
Accommodation at Oxon Hoath
Oxon Hoath was established as a royal estate in the 14th Century. It has an assortment of rooms of varying sizes and dimensions. We have exclusive use of the building and access to all its treasures including a Jacobean library and spacious common rooms. All the guest accommodation is of a high standard; many rooms retain the original mansion proportions and have en-suite facilities, those without, have a bathroom near-by.
All rooms are centrally heated, simple and comfortable; most rooms are twin but there are also several singles and doubles and a couple of family rooms sleeping 3 to 4 people.
Food at the Retreat
Food is an important part of the retreat; we serve inspiring organic vegetarian meals in the yogic tradition and lots of interesting celebration foods, chai and exceptionally tasty, healthy cakes!
We draw insight from the modern raw food movement as well as from the Indian Ayurvedic tradition. We will demonstrate that a vegetarian diet can include tremendous variety and can be more satisfying and more energising than any other diet. There is also the option to have a diet of only raw food!
We share with you our enthusiasm and experiences of long term vegetarian diets and we are sure you will be inspired by our vitality!
Therapeutic Treatments
Treatments can be arranged with our therapists during the retreat. Treatments are charged separately at £20 per treatment (treatments last approximately 30 to 40 minutes).

Commonly asked questions
Do many people come alone? Yes. Many people came to the retreat last year on their own and had a fabulous time, meeting and having fun with new people.
How old are the participants? People of all ages come to the retreat. We would love to open the retreat to children but unfortunately the charges at Oxon Hoath for children make it too expensive for families with young children to join us.
Do I need to have experience at yoga or Kundalini Yoga? No. Many people came to the retreat last year and had no previous experience. The beauty of Kundalini Yoga and the way in which we run the retreat means that you can participate fully wherever you are in terms of previous experience. Kundalini Yoga teachers are very welcome.
Do I need to bring a towel? Yes, please bring your own towel. They are available for hire at a small charge.
Is alcohol permitted? No. This is an alcohol and drug-free retreat. Thank you.
