Ishwara Kaur (aka Heidi Machin)
I am passionate about and dedicated to teaching, discussing and exploring the nature of consciousness. I love to laugh and see the magic in all that we are and what we do. I love to work with the rather etheric concepts of consciousness and relate them to our everyday lives!
I
continue to explore consciousness in relation to human behaviour and
healing, having delved deeply into advaita (non-duality) but also by
looking at how understanding and experiences of advaita can profoundly
impact our everyday lives.
I
completed an intensive three year training program (Level 1 and Level
2) with the Amrit Nam Sarovar European Training School, to be a
Kundalini Yoga Teacher. I am now a KRI certified Kundalini
Yoga teacher registered with KYTA UK and IKYTA, the national and
international Kundalini Yoga Teachers' Associations. I am also a Teacher Trainer with the ANS School.
The training, under the leadership of Karta Singh from France, was
incredible in a very profound way and established a very strong
foundation in me which has allowed my gifts to blossom in ways that I
didn't dare to imagine might be possible!
Prior to finding Yoga I had a background in the corporate and charity
sectors, having worked in London and Brighton, South Africa and
Australia. I also did a spell as Project Manager at Atsitsa - a holistic centre in Greece.
I currently live in Brighton, but often travel to other parts of the UK and abroad to teach i.e. I've taught Shakti Dance workshops in the Manchester area and out in Spain at Cortijo-Romero. Please see below for
a summary of the specific areas that I'm currently working in and do
take a look at the individual sections in this website for more
information on anything that particularly interests you. Get in touch
if you want to know more about any of this...
Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan
I've
been teaching regular Kundalini Yoga classes for a number of years now
as well as regular workshops. I have facilitated the Level 1 Kundalini
Yoga Teacher Training in Brighton for the past two years as part of the
Amrit Nam Sarovar European Training School. I also teach yoga on a 1:1
basis and have taught yoga to teenagers at both Brighton College and
more recently at Lancing College.
Spiritual Counselling
With the increase in issues in our society such as spiritual crises and depression etc. I have been meeting with people on a one-to-one basis using my foundation in the Yoga, to intuitively give guidance to help people find some peace and a purpose in life.
Self-Worth Workshops
I met
Sat Santokh Singh around five years ago and have been working with him
on my own self-worth issues since that time. Through this, I have
developed a deep understanding of what it is to have self-worth
issues. Whether we are aware of it or not, most people have
self-esteem issues which prevent them from living the life that they
dream of. The Self-Worth Workshops can have a very powerful healing
impact.
Sharing Circles
I
facilitate sharing circles which can have a profound impact on the way
people feel about themselves. The circles are facilitated in a space
of non-judgement and compassion and they are confidential so a space
for healing is created.
Kundalini Mantras
I
love the inspiration and joyous elevation that is created when singing
mantras in a group. I accompany the singing with the guitar.
Reflexology and Hands-on Healing
I completed a training with the International Institute of Reflexology and love the fact that 'simply' working with the feet can bring such a profound state of healing and relaxation to the whole body, mind & soul.
I also use my hands to give hands-on healings.
Coping with life through understanding and managing our emotions
After
working with children, at some charities, who have difficulties in
life, I have become very interested in exploring the possibilities of
working with children/teenagers to help them develop life skills i.e.
how to understand and manage their emotions. Also, in the past, I
worked on a voluntary basis in the charity sector with homeless people,
many of whom were involved with drink and drugs and this is also an
area that I'm exploring to see what I might be able to do
Shakti Dance
I completed a Teacher Training in Shakti Dance (The Yoga of Dance) in the UK and run workshops and some retreats in this discipline.
